Frequently Asked Questions

About Coached Learning

Q: What is a coached course, and how is it different from other online courses? A: Our coached courses combine live interactive sessions with self-paced learning. Unlike typical online courses, you get real-time coaching, work through actual challenges with peers, and receive personalized feedback. It's learning by doing with expert support throughout.

Q: How is this different from self-paced online learning? A: The magic happens in the combination: weekly live coaching gives you accountability and real-time problem-solving, while the time between sessions lets you immediately apply concepts in your actual work. You then bring back real results and challenges to discuss with your coach and peers.

Q: What happens during a live coached session? A: Each 90-minute session is highly interactive with your small group of maximum 8 participants. You'll work through real challenges together, receive targeted coaching on your specific situations, and learn from diverse perspectives. These are collaborative working sessions where everyone contributes and receives personalized attention.

Q: Why only 8 participants? A: Small groups ensure everyone gets personal attention and can share their specific challenges. You'll build genuine connections with peers facing similar issues, creating a supportive network that often continues long after the course ends.

Who Should Enroll

Q: Who are the coached courses designed for? A: Our courses are for humanitarian and development professionals at all levels - from field staff to senior managers. Whether you're transitioning into new responsibilities or strengthening existing skills, you'll find practical tools applicable to your context.

Q: Do I need prior experience to enroll? A: No prior experience needed! Our courses work for all levels. We provide clear, practical guidance for newcomers while offering strategic insights and advanced applications for seasoned practitioners.

Q: Can I complete the course if I'm between jobs or not currently working? A: Yes! While you're encouraged to apply concepts to real work, we provide guidance for hypothetical scenarios if you're not currently employed. The skills you gain will be valuable for your next role.

Q: Is this suitable for non-native English speakers? A: Absolutely! Our trainer has a background in linguistics and creates an inclusive environment where all participants thrive, regardless of their first language.

Course Format & Schedule

Q: What is the format of the coached courses? A: Each course includes 5 weekly live sessions (90 minutes each) plus 3 hours of self-study per week. You'll access videos, exercises, templates between sessions and submit a final assignment for personalized feedback.

Q: What is the time commitment? A: Plan for 4-5 hours per week over 5 weeks: a 90-minute live session plus 3 hours for self-study, practice, and application.

Q: What if I'm in a different time zone? A: Live sessions are scheduled at specific GMT times. If you can't attend live due to time zones or field work, recordings are sent within 12 hours. Many participants successfully complete courses while following recordings.

Q: What if I have to miss a live session? A: No problem! All sessions are recorded and sent within 12 hours along with a meeting summary. You can download recordings to watch when convenient. We'll still discuss any questions you submit even if you miss the meeting.

Q: Can I take more than one coached course at a time? A: While some participants successfully take multiple courses and make valuable connections between themes, we generally recommend focusing on one course at a time to get maximum benefit from the live sessions and practice opportunities.

Q: When can I access the course content? A: Immediately after enrollment, you'll begin with a personalized expectations conversation to clarify your learning goals. Course materials unlock one week before your start date, giving you time to prepare while ensuring everyone begins the learning journey together.

Certification & Beyond

Q: Will I receive a certificate? A: You receive a Certificate of Completion when you've covered all modules (we track your progress).

Q: What's the difference between the certificate and letter of achievement? A: The Certificate shows you participated fully. The Letter of Achievement is a personalized document that ties together your original learning goals, your contributions during the course, the quality of your final assignment, and specific skills developed. It's excellent for your CV and demonstrates to employers not just attendance, but mastery.

Q: How long do I have access to the course materials? A: You get lifetime access to all videos, handouts, templates, and transcripts.

Q: What ongoing support is available after the course ends? A: You'll join a course-specific Impact Community where you can continue sharing insights and challenges with fellow participants. The trainer monitors these communities and provides ongoing guidance.

Q: What is the Impact Community? A: The Impact Community is an ongoing space where past, present, and future course participants share insights, ask questions, and tackle new challenges together. Monitored by your trainer, it's where you can get feedback on real work situations, celebrate successes, and learn from practitioners across different cohorts.

Q: Are there follow-up or advanced courses available? A: We offer a range of coached and self-study courses. Many participants complete multiple programs to build comprehensive skills across project management, M&E, proposal writing, and more.
