RESULTS-BASED MANAGEMENT, MONITORING & EVALUATION
14 - 18 January 2019
A Five-Day Training For Project And Program Managers, M&E Staff, Project Teams & Development Consultants
Design & Monitor Humanitarian & Community Development Projects That Get Results & Attract Donor Support
A Poorly Planned Project Will Always Fail To Deliver
Successful projects have to meet stakeholder needs and align to donors' interests. It's a balancing act.
And they need to be built around a logical chain of results.
If we don't get the planning right, a project will miss the mark from the start. It can promise results that cannot be delivered, or fail to achieve its full potential.
Poor Monitoring Leads To Poor Decisions
So how do we ensure that our team consistently collects data on the right things using the right methods at the right time?
Without a comprehensive M&E plan, projects will always go off track. That means outcomes not achieved, chasing after data and extra cost to the project.
Communities Lose Out, Donors Become Dissatisfied And Project Teams Pull In Different Directions
It's a simple fact that a well-designed and well-monitored project will get better results.
And while RBM has been a top priority of the United Nations and other donor agencies since 2005, many organisations are still planning and monitoring projects in the same old way.
A RESULTS-BASED APPROACH
Imagine being able to consistently deliver projects that achieve real, measurable results.
The kind of results that address the needs of communities and stakeholders, and align with your donors' strategic objectives.
Imagine having an M&E plan in place, from the very start, so that you can measure progress towards those results. The whole team know what they are doing; data collected flows to where it is needed - when it is needed; and managers can make those vital decisions that steer a project to a successful outcome.
Results-Based Management gives us a framework to:
The result? A reputation for success as a team that creates positive, measurable change for communities.
"RBM is not a tool - it is a mindset, a way of working that looks beyond processes and activities, to focus on the actual social and economic benefits of projects for beneficiaries."
ABOUT THIS TRAINING
This hands-on course will teach you how to:
CLEAR, STRAIGHTFORWARD, PRACTICAL LEARNING
We've limited the number of participants to just 12 to ensure maximum participation and learning. While you will get all the theory you need, we want you to learn the steps and tools in a way that you can apply time after time after the course is over.
This means working in small teams creating your own project from scratch - from problem identification through designing the project right through to building the M&E plan.
We know development practice can often be very confusing. We aim to take current best-practice and explain it in the most clear way possible - cutting through to what's important in ways you can understand and apply.
WHAT'S IN THE COURSE?
You will learn a step-by-step method you can use every time to identify, plan and monitor projects.
This practical course will teach you how to:
We will apply the key steps of RBM / M&E planning in a focused way that allows for maximum practical work.

Other sessions may be added depending on participants' needs and expectations.

And, unlike most other courses, we don't leave you to 'get on with it' once the course is over. We know a lot of questions can come up once you are back in the world and actually applying the skills you learn.
